Mary Daly— Passionate about Food Safety

Mary Daly is a qualified Teacher, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree and Higher Diploma in Education from UCC. She taught at second level before joining the Defence Forces as an Officer Cadet.

Mary was appointed as a trainer/lecturer at The Military College, Curragh Camp for five years, subsequently being selected to study Catering Management at DIT. Mary’s role evolved to training catering staff in Food Safety & assisting with the implementation of HACCP both in Ireland and overseas.

Mary established the food consultancy business in 2000 has since gained immeasurable experience in the food industry having worked with leading organisations such as Bord Bia, the Health Service Executive and the Food Safety Promotion Board.

Mary has achieved FETAC & FAS approval as a food safety trainer as well as being a licensed trainer on behalf of The National Hygiene Partnership and The Environmental Health Officers Association. She has completed a Lead Auditor Training Course with EIQA, which is certified by IRCA and an auditor conversion course in ISO 22,000:2005, (Food Safety Management Systems Auditor.)

Mary is a preferred food safety trainer on behalf of Failte Ireland.

Since 2000 Mary has built a very successful business providing invaluable services to a wide range of clients. Mary is the trainer/consultant to The K Club and had executive responsibility for all Food Safety matters during the Ryder Cup. She has co- coordinated The Midleton Food Festival for the past four years and presented a research report to SAFE FOOD on the requirements of conducting food fairs & farmers market.

Mary is a member and Public Relations Officer of the Food Safety Professionals Association, an organisation established to ensure that the highest standards are adhered to for professionals working in the Food Safety sector.

Mary is passionate about the food industry and believes that Ireland should be an international leader both in terms of quality and standards of service.
